THE EARLY YEARS

                                                                          1953 - 1979

 

The '50s and '60s

I was  born in Berkshire, England and lived in the small village of Brimpton, near Newbury. I was educated in 5 schools:

 Kindergarten on Greenham Common - St Bartholemew's Prep School, Newbury - Brockhurst boarding school, Hermitage - Shiplake College, Henly-on-Thames

and finally the

Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London from 1969 to 1974

where I studied:

                   PIANO - FLUTE - ORGAN - CONDUCTING - GENERAL MUSICIANSHIP - SPEACH & DRAMA

 

The '70s

In the 1970's I worked as a peripatetic piano and flute teacher both privately and in  schools around Berkshire (Elstree Prep. School and Pangbourne College for example).

At the same time I was Musical Director for various amateur operatic companies

Caversham Park Village Operatic Society  

Maidenhead Musical Comedy Society

I formed my own Opera Company and conducted Operas by:

Mozart - Donzetti - Puccini - Purcell

The day I left school in 1969 I became the organist of Brimpton church. I formed a 24 voice choir singing every Sunday. Soon I became the organist of a second church nearby.

IN 1979 I STOPPED ALL TEACHING AND AMATEUR CONDUCTING!

I have been a

PROFESSIONAL MUSICAL DIRECTOR / CONDUCTOR SINCE 1979

occassionally working on Cruise ships since 1995

I have lived in France since 2001
